Get Involved with Sacramento’s Homeless Count

In our report, Estimating California’s Homeless Youth Population, we discuss the lack of an accurate number of homeless youth in our state. One way to better collect data on the prevalence of unaccompanied homeless youth is to incorporate targeted outreach efforts in the biannual point-in-time (PIT) count enacted by local Continuum’s of Care (CoC). Here in Sacramento County, the Homeless Count will be taking place on January 27th, 2011. If you’d like to get involved or to find out more information, check out Sacramento Steps Forward, or locate the CoC in your county and offer to volunteer. This is an excellent way for policymakers, service providers, advocates, and community members to make an effort to better serve--and ultimately end--youth homelessness in our state.
